Esplanade Gardens Apartment is a gorgeous, up-market, ground-floor holiday property. Perfect for a special break for a couple or for a small family group with older children or grandparent.
You reach the entrance up 8 steps from Esplanade Gardens and enter through a communal lobby into a reception hall from where you access all rooms.
The high-ceilinged, bay-windowed lounge, has grand proportions and is beautifully presented with quality soft furnishings. A real fire, reading lamps, sofas and chair, TV/DVD, CD, books and games encourage relaxation. The dining table and chairs share this wonderful spacious reception room.
This property is in a conservation area characterised by wide avenues and period architecture, so you have lovely views from the bay window of other impressive Victorian buildings and down Esplanade Gardens to the Esplanade and the sea beyond.
Recently fitted high-spec' kitchen. There's all you would expect at this standard ... high-gloss units, solid wood worktops, gas hob, electric oven, extractor, fridge-freezer, microwave and dishwasher (there isn't a washer but there's a launderette at Ramshill - see below). Two bar stools provide a perch for quick drinks and snacks at the breakfast bar.
The bedrooms are extremely well-furnished and inviting. The elegant master bedroom (which has a southerly aspect) has a king-size bed and is of a generous size. The second bedroom is slightly smaller but equally impressive and is furnished with twin beds and storage space.
N.B. A 2ft 6ins Z-bed can be provided if arranged well in advance of your holiday (at the time of booking). Linen and/or a sleeping bag will be supplied for this. This is an option kindly provided by the property owners, at no extra charge, for a younger 5th guest .... or a 4th guest who does not wish to share a bedroom.
There’s a really classy new bathroom with bath, separate shower with glass-enclosure, WC and washbasin.
All in all self-catering with 5-star standards at a surprisingly reasonable price. . Don't miss this opportunity.
To the rear of the property is a fire-escape which gives access to the service area and back lane. This area is well-kept and softened by greenery, and is not hemmed in by other properties..... it catches the morning sun too, so it's pleasant to have the door open on a warm day when using the kitchen.
Bed-linen, tea-towels, bath and hand towels are supplied - but please bring beach towels with you.
Heating by gas central heating and wood burning stove. Note: the wood burner is not necessary for heating the flat.
There are no meters, and a free initial supply of logs is provided for the stove - ask the owners on arrival about where to obtain extra supplies.
A high-chair and a cot (but no linen) can be made available if requested in advance.
1 small-medium dog welcome free-of-charge (perhaps 2 small dogs by prior arrangement). Pets must never be allowed on furniture or left unattended and all evidence of the pet's stay is to be removed on departure.
Great places locally for dog walking including the South Cliff Gardens, cliff-top paths and the South Bay beach (see local signs).
On-street with 24-hour parking scratch cards provided free for the duration of your holiday. Although parking is not designated you can usually get parked close to the property, even in high season.
Please let the property owners know in advance if you require permits for more than 1 car.

Situated in Scarborough’s wonderful South Cliff area between the Esplanade and the suburb of Ramshill.
The Esplanade skirts the South Cliff area which is generally regarded as the quieter side of Town.
The apartment is within a short walking distance of the Cliff Lift – which takes you quickly from the Esplanade down to the Spa Theatre and South Beach. The Spa Theatre is the venue for a wide variety of events including the famous Open-Air Orchestral Concerts. Alternatively you can walk to this area down one of the gently winding woodland pathways - perhaps pausing at the Clock Cafe or one of the many viewpoints along the way.
Scarborough’s vibrant Town Centre is reached on foot in 10-15 minutes via the Spa Footbridge ...or by car across Valley Bridge in 5 minutes. The Foreshore and Harbour are a further few minutes distant.
In the vicinity of the apartment are hotels serving good food, and providing excellent leisure facilities (day passes can be obtained)....and at Ramshill (10 mins walk inland) are take-aways, restaurants, cafes, a post office, a launderette, pharmacy and convenience stores.
The nearest 24-hour supermarket & Railway/Bus Station are about 1/2 mile distant.
Places to visit within an hour’s drive include the North York Moors National Park, the historic city of York and the picturesque and fascinating Whitby & Robin Hood's Bay.
Only infants still in cot and children over 6 are allowed. There are steep steps to the rear of the property which are easily accessible if the kitchen door is open - so we recommend only older children stay.
A cot and high chair can be provided free-of-charge if requested well in advance (you would have to bring your own cot linen).
