Had a lovely week here, the house was immaculate from top to bottom. When we arrived, there was chocolates nibbles and milk for us,which was a really nice touch! All the rooms are lovely decorated and very clean. The location is great,if you want to be near the town its a 5 minute walk and the beach front is 5 minutes opposite way which we loved. All in all great property great location would definitely recommend it!!Will definitely be returning this year...already looking into it.
I was looking for holiday let in town and I found Captains Rest from the moment we got there we knew that we had picked the perfect place get location the sea front just down the road pubs and shops close by everything you will need while on holiday Karen was very helpful from the start the added treats were a nice touch would total recommend this place to everyone and will be coming back
Easter break - great accommodation, clean, well equipped close to beach, town and castle. Captain's Rest is well located, close to Scarborough's south beach and and town centre. Castle, North beach and Peasholm Park all within easy walking distance. The house is well decorated, very clean and comfortable. It is really well equipped with everything you could need unlike a lot of places we have stayed. On-street parking outside the house was very busy but a permit was provided for a nearby car park, the permit could also be used in other car parks including Whitby and other nearby towns. We arrived on Easter Saturday to find Easter eggs for everyone which was lovely. Karen was lovely, making sure we had everything we needed and responded straight away to any questions we had. I would definitely recommend.
All I have to say is...all good again, really enjoy our stay here!Lovely place to stay! Would recommend.
Excellent accommodation that fitted our needs perfectly. The "Captain's Rest" was spotless and tastefully decorated. Very handy for the beach and town. Car parking permit was provided and the car park was close by. The owners were helpful and keys arrived in plenty of time.
Looking forward to going back next year This lovely house was clean and cosy and modern. Loved the nice little touches- milk in the fridge and chocolates (plenty of them!). Great communication with the owners- any queries sorted straight away! A short walk to the beach & shops makes it in a great location. Parking would have been a problem but the owners kindly provide a pass for the long stay car parks in the town. Overall- would highly recommend staying at Captains Rest!
We had a really wonderful stay at Captain's rest. We were a family of 4 (2 adults, 4 year old, 2 year old) with my mum, my sister and her 2 year old. We brought along an inflatable toddler bed for one of the little ones (pre agreed with Karen; she was also able to provide a travel cot if needed) and he slept on the floor of the larger double. The first thing I should say was this house is IMMACULATE. The decor is all beautiful and fresh; obviously well planned and everything was finished beautifully. Nothing shoddy or half done. Cosy yet simple/uncluttered. Think this was the nicest holiday rental I've ever stayed in (they can be very hot and miss!) When you arrive you will find Karen has left chocolate treats for everybody in the group; what a lovely touch. She even left choc buttons for the little ones ❤️ The set-up is great. It's over 4 floors; ground floor has lounge, kitchen, dining room with a large table for sociable dinners. Next floor has the larger double with a beautiful sea view, and not one but TWO bathrooms (one with bath, one with shower, both with loo). Next floor up is a twin room and the gorgeous cosy lounge with a sea view and comfy sofa. There are a few books and DVDs and games here too. On to floor 4 with another double and a large bathroom with shower. The number of bathrooms meant there was no waiting about for people to get out of the shower! Every room has a tv including the dining room. Karen has equipped the house really well with everything you may need for cooking etc. Even providing plastic kids' plates and bowls - great touch, we had brought some with us but next time will remember to save on packing space! Location is a dream, 5 minute walk down to the South Bay promenade and some lovely little shops along the way. It's apparently only a 20-25 min walk to the north bay too but as we had toddlers with us (and no buggies) we figured this may actually take us an hour! So we found it easy to pop down the road to South Bay and get the bus around to the North Bay instead. The kids loved this as it was open-top and you get to see the sights along the way. 5 mins up the road and you're in the town centre with all the usual high street shops, though we didn't venture up there as we were on holidaaaay! We did south beach and donkeys and sandcastles, the lifeboat station, crabbing in the harbour (successfully!), the amusements, the hill tram...then the quieter less 'tacky' north beach which was lovely, sealife centre, North Bay Railway, Peasholm Park... We also drove up to Staithes on the last day which was best part of an hour but worth it. A gorgeous unspoilt fishing village. Thank you Karen for a wonderful stay!
We rented Captains Rest for a long weekend with the family. The location in the centre of town was perfect, near the beach and the shops. The house provided all we could have wanted and more, beautifully appointed and spotless. The 2 parking permits meant we could park the cars and enjoy ourselves without worry. The owner was in touch by text before we arrived and could not have been more helpful and welcoming. We will certainly look to re book the Captains Rest if returning to Scarborough.
Words are not enough...I tried hard to find a fault with this property but it was impossible. The standard of cleanness was second to none, all rooms were immaculate, and very well presented and coordinated. Milk , tea on arrival, and homely comforts on arrival. Location for beech and shops excellent. Sorry but i can not find enough words to comment our full satisfaction of this property. To revisit is a definite YES. Its a must for anybody wanting a full home from home experience with the benefit of the sea on the doorstep.
The cottage was absolutely immaculate. Clear instructions were left for appliances. A lovely thoughtful touch of chocolates left on the beds in every room was really nice, along with a bottle of milk in the fridge to be able to make a brew on arrival. Excellent location within easy reach of North and South Bays and town centre. I hope we'll be back.
Excellent Accommodation - Beautiful clean accommodation. Need to be fit for all the stairs but well worth it. 2 mins to sea front.
Fantastic Holiday....Beautiful house great location fantastic holiday as usual weather was brilliant for the two weeks could not ask for more staff at Bedwyn's are very helpful and great service as always
